Privacy policy – DIINNO Scanner app

This privacy policy applies to the Android app DIINNO Scanner (package name com.diinno.scanner). A separate privacy policy for the website applies to our website.

Controller

DIINNO GmbH, Brunsbütteler Damm 93, 13581 Berlin, Germany. Email: info@diinno.de, phone: +49 (0)30 2388 3766.

Principle

The app does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. There are no user accounts, no advertising or tracking SDKs and no analytics services.

Camera

The camera is used exclusively to scan barcodes and QR/Data Matrix codes. Image processing takes place entirely on the device; camera images are neither stored nor transmitted.

Image recognition from the gallery

When using “Scan image” (“Bild scannen”), you select an image via the Android system dialogue; it is decoded locally only. The app has no general access to your photos or your device storage.

Scan history

Scanned content is stored exclusively locally on the device (max. 50 entries) and can be deleted in the app at any time. The history may form part of the Android device backup (Google account) configured by you; we have no access to it.

Online announcements and product catalogue

The app retrieves static content (announcement texts, product catalogue, images) from diinno.de. For technical reasons, the IP address of your device is transmitted to our server and processed in server log files (legal basis: legitimate interest in secure operation, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (DSGVO)). No device identifiers, no cookies and no usage profiles are used; the request contains only the app name and version number. Content is cached locally; the app works without restriction without an internet connection.

Permissions

  • Camera – scanning codes (processing on the device only)
  • Internet – retrieval of the static content from diinno.de mentioned above

Google Play and Google Play services

Obtaining the app via Google Play is subject to Google's privacy policy. On devices with Google Play services, the app uses the code scanner module of Play services; here too, barcode recognition takes place on the device. On devices without Google services, the app works with fully embedded recognition.

Note on use (liability)

The app is an auxiliary tool: scan, parse and check results (e.g. meter number, server ID, FNN format check) are non-binding auxiliary information and do not replace a professional check. No warranty is given for decisions based on the results.

Your rights

As the app does not transmit any personal data to us, we generally do not hold any data about you. Irrespective of this, you have the rights under Art. 15–21 GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection) as well as a right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. Contact: info@diinno.de.

Last updated: July 2026. We will adapt this policy if the functionality of the app changes.
